The Montana Board of Crime Control recently finished an upgrade to its crime reporting technology.
The new web-based Montana incident-based reporting system went live to sheriff's offices and police departments across the state earlier this month. The system has two elements: one is a secure repository that only law enforcement can access to submit crime data. The other is an interactive website for the public to access crime data. The new system can look at crime incidents from 22 different parameters, including geographical region, type of crime, day of the week and gang involvement.
