Tea Party holds convention in Helena
Members of the Montana tea party are gathering this weekend in Helena for their first ever convention.
Twelve of the state's twenty-five tea parties are represented at the convention.
There are a variety of seminars on Saturday including grassroots activism and panel discussions.
Several radio broadcasts were also live from the convention today.
Radio host Roger Hedgecock, the former mayor of San Diego, talked about making changes in Washington DC.
"I'm not content to talk about this stuff. I'm past the point of talking it, I've had it up to here, maybe up to here. It's done, we now have to change this things, we have to act." Says Hedgecock.
The tea party is paying close attention to what's happening in congress, as well at the Montana state legislature.
Jay Anderson of the big sky tea party says committees have been formed that watch and monitor what’s going on.
"One of the things we're trying to accomplish with this convention is it's a chance for us to get eyeball to eyeball with everybody and maybe get a little better coordinated." Says Anderson.
There is still time to register if you would like to attend Saturday’s seminars.
They're at the Red Lion Colonial Hotel starting at 8am.
